Please take a look at how I consider myself as a teacher, and feel free to inquire about traveling preferences, and even a free short trial lesson/meeting.
I specialize in being able to adjust to the adult students need for music. The modern lifestyle has different needs and goals regarding music, I am open to all the different ways music can fit into a student's lifestyle. While I provide meaningful and concise advice, the student is the boss. Weekly lessons are recommended but I am able to be flexible with scheduling if needed. I also have a piano studio with two grand piano steinways side by side for a smooth workflow during lessons. Online less
I have a fair amount of experience working with young kids, and I take on students no younger than 7 years old. I enjoy working with kids and I am able to adjust to their learning style. Similarly to my adult students, I do not impose the all encompassing role music plays in my life to my younger students.
As my background is primarily a soloist cellist, I find it a little more difficult to take on very young or beginner cello students. I would recommend at least two years of committed experience before studying with me. While with my teenagers I may encourage them to enjoy the hard work playing an instrument entails, I also try to lend them some perspective on how ultimately this is something that is here to improve their lives, not burden it.
One thing adults may find surprising about studying the instrument, is the amount of physical exertion playing the cello requires. Depending on your response to that, playing cello might have some unexpected benefits! I pride myself on being able to equip an adult player of any level with a set-up at the instrument that enables you to tackle any challenges with a powerful and robust yet sonorous sound.
Overall, the main aspect that makes me unique as a teacher is my all-inclusive approach to teaching any part of music. Since I am interested in so many areas of music, and at the same time highly specialized in one area (cello), I provide consultation that is well balanced and organized. I do not teach a specific school of composition, this is a very personal subject that would require more discussion with the student!
